I started writing this article 6 months ago, but such is the nature of hardware, you think its going to be a 3 month project but it turns into 12. I am not an electrical engineer by trade, although I spent the first part of my working life working on aircraft and components so I am used to building things.
A man who carries a cat by the tail learns something he can learn in no other way.
This quote always makes me laugh, just in case you don’t get the idea, essentially it means you sometimes have to do things and make your own mistakes, people can tell you what will happen but until you screw it up [...]
Henry J. Kaiser US Industrialist I was talking to a class of University students the other day and they were looking for problems to solve as part of their hardware design subject after a lot of thought this is what I came up with. I believe they are validated and represent real business opportunities.Prototyping and small volume Manufacturing Machines English: SMT placement machine Juki KE-2080L at Megger’s Dover site. Hardware is hard and expensive to develop. There are a bunch of reasons around this and it’s usually nothing to do with the cost of the components which [...]
Adding to the highly capable 123D range of free software for makers and enthusiasts, Autodesk has released 123D Circuits.
Aiming to bridge the gap between homemade hand drawn circuits or free open source packages and high-end circuit design, simulation and layout software such as Eagle and Altium, 123D Circuits allows you to design, simulate, layout and then order prototypes of the board you just created. It has files for the major components that you might need in a general circuit design.
It allows you to experiment with building circuits and simulate them without having to pick up a soldering iron.Virtual [...]
