ED: This looks handy but can’t help but wonder if the functionality will be included in iOS or OSX in the near future, I think elements of the solution are already creeping in, latest OSX versions already allow me to type SMS or iMessages via the Mac.

You do not need to install any other apps on your device – just connect it to Mac and start typing.
