The prices for apartments in the cities worldwide are climbing ever higher, meaning more and more young people need to find a roommate to help lower the cost of rent. That\’s why we built Findroommate. We provide an easy, trustworthy and fun way for young people to find shareable and affordable homes around the world.With regards to the US market, according to a research study by Zillow in 2012 (see first link below), over one third of working adults – aged 23-65 – live with roommates. This has increased from 25% since 2000 and is expected to continually rise as rents increase at a rate relatively higher than income. We all know how difficult it is to find a place to live when you are young or a student. The prices for apartments in the cities worldwide are climbing ever higher, meaning more and more young people need to find a roommate to help lower the cost of rent. That\’s why we built Findroommate. Findroommate strives to be the all-in-one solution for anyone\’s shared housing needs. (Think of us as \”Zillow + LinkedIn for shared housing.\”) Findroommate enables home seekers to find available rooms, or meet others and team up to find the perfect place to live. You can share your Findroommate profile with anyone and use it like a \”roommate resumé\” to let anyone know some basic information about yourself and see what type of room or roommate you\’re looking for. By partnering with other housing sites, we make sure that matched roommates can find the right shareable homes to move into. |

| Tell us about the market & founders, why is this a great opportunity? | Kristian Matthes is the CEO and Co-Founder and Savo Pekic is the CTO and Co-Founder of Findroommate. Kristian is responsible for the overall strategy and day-to-day operations of Findroommate. Savo manages all technical aspects of the site and ensures innovative, new ideas are successfully built and implemented. Prior to Findroommate, Kristian was working as a butcher until having a terrible experience searching for a new place to live, which served as the initial inspiration for Findroommate. Savo has a background in coding and has worked at many established Danish companies in the insurance and real estate sectors. After having gone through similar home-search experiences, Savo was passionate about the idea behind Findroommate and joined Kristian on the technical side of building the site.Similar to many entrepreneurial-minded individuals, Kristian and Savo\’s desire to start their own company out-weighed the stability of a \”traditional\” job. As entrepreneurs, their mentalities can be best described by the following quote: \”If you\’re willing to do for a couple of years what others won\’t, you can live for the rest of your life the way others can\’t.\” |
