| What problem are you solving? | Transport systems are inherently complex – they provide many ways to get to many places, but are also subject to planned and unplanned outages. This means that for both locals and tourists, it can be overwhelming to understand how to complete even the simplest of journeys. With Ride, it is my aim to make commuting across town a breeze. |
| What is your solution? | Trains, buses and everything else – Ride is a simple and practical real-time public transport app for all travellers from tourists to commuters.Ride transforms the complicated and daunting task of navigating your way through London and distills it into really simple, easily digestible pieces. For example, you can quickly add a widget to your phone to see what buses will be arriving outside your hotel. Or you can add a widget to see if there are any delays on the train line you need to use. You can even get notified when the delays go away. It\’s not just for today either, you can plan journeys and even check for planned engineering works any time from now up until 6 months in the future! There are many other delightful experiences contained within the app, such as a \”live\” map that actually shows the trains trundling their way to their destination and an Apple Watch app that shows you at a glance how long until your last train home. The app is currently being featured in the UK App Store (both the iOS App Store and the Apple Watch App Store). |

| Tell us about the market & founders, why is this a great opportunity? | The developer of the app, Andy Drizen, created Ride (previously known as Tube Tracker) whilst studying for a PhD in mathematics due to the frustration of not knowing what time he should leave the office in order to catch his train without a long wait.\”On average, one in four trains at Stepney Green are Hammersmith and City line trains; the others are all District line trains. Annoyingly, the departure board only shows the first three. At some platforms, like Aldgate East, only the very next train is shown\”, Drizen says. \”The departure boards in Ride, which show every train, was the solution to this problem\”. |
