Startup Name: Subset
Tagline: Subset brings the power of spreadsheets to an infinite canvas.
Elevator Pitch: While we worked in various finance and investing roles, we spent most of our waking hours working on spreadsheets (for building investment models, operating models for their portfolio companies, analysis on valuation, analysis on company growth, retention models, and ad-hoc calculators). Overtime we realized that all of the spreadsheets were mostly similar but still needed to be built from scratch each time and couldn’t really be reused.
In traditional programming, engineers would modularize their code so that it was extremely reusable and understandable by other engineers. This was evident by the ability to clone public repositories. We realized that spreadsheets were inherently a type of programming language that could benefit from this type of modularity.
Target Market: Our product currently targets people with workflows that include combining, summarizing and analyzing multiple CSVs, often times entrepreneurs and small businesses.
How will you make money?: The app is completely free to use. In the future, we may charge for teams and integrations.
