ATP Innovations launches new Accelerator Hub

We had a great night over at ATP Innovations  last week to celebrate the launch of its new Accelerator HUB.

Hamish Hawthorn, CEO of ATP Innovations said “What makes this co-working space so special is its location inside our world leading incubator which is home to over 60 technical businesses with validated ideas and business models. The ability to tap into this community provides companies with unmatched networking opportunities”

ATP which won the title of Randall M. Whaley Incubator of the Year Award 2014 at the International Conference on Business Incubation, announced the launch of its exclusive coworking space Accelerator HUB last week, which will be used to host and run accelerator programmes that validate early stage business ideas.

Having seen the original space a year or so, the new design and fit-out is a great improvement, going from the original Stalinist Government Railway workshop look to a funky startup space (including this cool new office furniture from OpenDesk.cc and a number of PodPlants freestanding green walls greening the place up).

Many startup founders graduate from programmes and experience post-accelerator or post-incubator anxiety. Similar to graduating from university, the real challenge for founders is to implement what was learned into real-life scenarios.

It also means paying real rent somewhere and dealing with the hassle that comes with housing team, commercial leases and other facilities management rubbish that as a Startup CEP you would just rather not get involved with.

The Accelerator HUB gives founders a ‘half-way house’ until their startups outgrow their coworking spaces.

ATP Innovations’ accelerator programme Ignition labs and partner programme Startmate will also be run out of the new Accelerator HUB.

The coworking space will also house and support selected graduates from other accelerator programmes including University of Sydney’s Incubate, University of New South WalesThe Startup Games, and Telstra-backed muru-D.

The new Accelerator HUB was designed by Allison Phillips, a fourth year student at COFA UNSW, who won ATP Innovations’ student design competition. Optus, Cook Medical, Commonwealth Bank and Startmate sponsored the revamp.

Every year ATP Innovations hosts over 100 technology entrepreneurs as part of their partnership with accelerator programs as well as running their own, you can apply to join the next Incubator Induction here
