Code Undercover – Sophisticated Web Development meets Automated Provisioning & Deployment

Ed: I like the way they have systemized the quote process. They have basically cut a days work from determining requirements for a more advanced web development project.

Speaking from personal experience as some who has built sites for others and has had sites built for me, web development is not a scalable business, everything is so (unnecessarily) customised.

Witness the rise of companies like Squarespace, Wix, Weebly and others. These companies will get you on the web with a basic presence but if you need something more sophisticated then you are back to a developer.

There is no reason more advanced requirements can’t be assembled from well known components.

Arguably they could have this all setup in Github with a build server that assembles the site and the requested features (ie blog, landing page, e-commerce, forum etc) and the theme and deploys it to the hosting site by the thousands.

If Code-Undercover can work out how to make this a cookie cutter assembly line for more sophisticated websites then they have a great future.
