What problem are you solving? We are constantly distracted by mobile notifications, and need a
contextual filter to determine what’s worth our immediate attention.
We have also been deceived that wearables can’t also be something we
truly desire to wear all day, every day.
What is your solution? Viawear’s inaugural bracelet line, Tyia, is a trustworthy personal
assistant enabling you to filter the noise and live without
distraction. The Tyia app lets you filter notifications by contact,
calendar, app, or even keywords and let you prioritize alerts with
vibration strengths, patterns and colors. Tyia also doubles as an
activity tracker, and integrates with Internet of Things applications
such as retail Beacons.
Target Market Fashion influencers, mom-tech bloggers, wearables/hardware enthusiasts, mobile/social messaging addicts.
How will you make money? Subscriptions/Advertisement.
Tell us about the market & founders, why is this a great opportunity? One day in 2012, Tyia, a therapist, put her phone in her purse on silent only to find that she had missed a barrage of calls and texts from the new nanny letting her know that her 5 year old son had just broken his arm.Tyia’s husband, Ben, knew the technology was available to create a bracelet that would alert her to incoming calls and messages. But, he also knew the bracelet would have to be beautiful and useful enough for his wife to wear every day.

Through a mutual friend in the jewelry business, Ben was introduced to Walter Chefitz, an award-winning jewelry designer who had recently been a design director for jewelry legend David Yurman and even more recently won Swarovski’s JCK’s Rock Star Reality Show competition. Together, Ben and Walter attracted a multi-talented team, including a hardware manufacturing guru and a mobile app innovator. After developing and testing multiple prototypes, they have created a unique bracelet that is distinguished from all others by its elegant beauty and useful notification filtering app.

It was Tyia who inspired the creation of the bracelet, and the bracelet now carries her name. Tyia is designed to protect you from the noise and to make things easier, richer, more beautiful and more focused. Enjoy the moment.
