Startup Name Phoodie
What problem are you solving? I set out to make one place to find both homemade recipes, as well as dishes and drinks from restaurants. An app that every type of food blogger, food lover or person just trying to find a good burger joint nearby could use.
What is your solution? Phoodie is a simple photo feed where you follow other phoodies (think Instagram). There are food friendly features to add and search for recipes (think Pinterest). You swipe to save anything you want to try (think Tinder). There’s also the ability to find restaurants (think Yelp). Every time you upload a photo, it gets tagged as either kitchen for food, or bar for drink. So if you see something you like, you swipe right, and it gets saved to your kitchen or bar!
Target Market foodie, foodporn, foodpics
How will you make money? through sales
Tell us about the market & founders, why is this a great opportunity? Brooklyn Earick spent 8 years traveling the world as a dj & music producer, anywhere from LA to NYC, to Ibiza and all over the Caribbean. He then left his music career behind and got an internship at NASA Ames, which is where he was first introduced to software engineering. He then left to take classes on both software engineering and design, and built the first beta version of Phoodie.
