| What problem are you solving? | In our everyday life or while traveling, we discover new places, but we forget most of them.Placeboard makes it really easy to remember places and find them later, with a big focus on getting the basics right, rather than pushing social features. Unlike similar apps that already exist such as Foursquare, Placeboard is entirely designed as your own private place database. It\’s not a social network. You can start using the app immediately without creating any account or worrying about your privacy. You won\’t see other people ratings, suggestions or comments either. You are free to organize and annotate your places in our own way. Although Placeboard isn\’t a social network, it includes several features to share your favorite places. You can even create small private social networks known as share lists, which act collaborative place lists limited to the people you invite. With its minimalistic design, Placeboard strives to blend simplicity and flexibility into a seamless user experience that lets you accomplish each action in a minimal number of steps. For example, custom controls have designed to pick tags and filter what\’s around you within a certain radius. |

| Tell us about the market & founders, why is this a great opportunity? | Quentin Mathé is a freelance iOS and mac developer, living in France and involved in several open source projects such as Étoilé, CoreObject and GNUstep.Although he initially studied multimedia design, his interests cover now a wide range of topics, from programming languages to user interface. For a long time, he has been thinking about making computers easier to use and more flexible. He believes that rethinking UI toolkits, developer tools and creative applications could change the way we use computers and mobile devices. He founded the Étoilé project with this goal in mind and now carries this vision into Placeboard and future projects. |
