ED: Many of my regular readers ask me why I have such positive comments about the startups that I review on the Pitch Your Startup stories.
Its primary because I have pretty well shielded you from the crap and culled a stack of pitches before I let them get to the readers. For every pitch we publish we probably delete 1-2 or have to ask more questions.
But every now and again I feel the need to point out when there are problems.
In the spirit of Easter I decided to Crucify a few.
On the surface Firmsee is a really good concept however the execution is terrible.
The pitch below is verbatim as submitted.
Guys its not good enough, here are a few pointers
- You must use grammatically correct English when you pitch your companies. This is especially important for startups where English is not your first language.
- You should ensure there are no spelling mistakes.
- You should have a professional designer design your site and also ensure the buttons actually work.
- If you are in fact trying to attack Google for your market segment, you might want to think about autoscaling your Amazon Instances, though based on the design, spelling and performance I suspect this world beating search engine is running on a basic Cpanel hosting account.
- In most cases Basic search took 1-2 minutes to load or failed completely.
- I tried to search for a number of companies from the US and other Western countries but it appears to be mainly Indian based but no where on the site or the pitch does it indicate this. Even when I tried Tata the response timed out. In the end every search was timing out.
- Lets just suppose their claim of millions of users monthly is correct, if you are having service difficulties maybe a good idea to post a message?
